WORKSHOP ON NON-FORMAL EDUCATION AND INFORMING ACTIVITIES FOR FOREIGNERS WAS ORGANIZED

Within the scope of "Project for Supporting the Development of National Harmonization Policy of Turkey" carried out in cooperation with the Directorate General of Migration Management and the International Organization for Migration, a workshop on informing services and lifelong education activities for foreigners living in our country was performed.

In the opening ceremony of the workshop which was organized in Ankara on 4-5 May 2017, Mr. Atilla TOROS, Director General of Migration Management; Mr. Lado Gvilava, Chief of Mission IOM Turkey; representatives of relevant public institutions and organizations; representatives from NGOs and foreign guests took part.

Making a speech at the workshop, Mr. Atilla TOROS, Director General of Migration Management stated that migrants and refugees in Turkey are not just numbers, all of them are valuable as human beings and that they have a separate story. Indicating that call center ALO 157 YIMER provides service for foreigners in 6 languages 7 days 24 hours, Mr. Atilla TOROS, Director General of Migration Management said: “We have created a migrant child character named MUYU, distributed 125.000 MUYU sets prepared in multilingual format to 81 provinces and continue to carry out many harmonization activities like multilingual website named uyumcocuk.gov.tr.”

After the opening speeches; relevant public institutions and organizations, international organizations and representatives of civil society presented their presentations on education and information activities they carry out for foreigners. The workshop ended with question and answer section after current situation assessment, exchange of opinions between institutions.
