CONFERENCE ON “MIGRATION AND SETTLEMENT POLICIES IN THE LAST PERIODS OF OTTOMAN EMPIRE” WAS ORGANIZED

Conference on “Migration and Settlement Policies in the last periods of Ottoman Empire” was organized by Directorate General of Migration Management Training Department on 26 February 2015 in the Directorate General Central Conference Hall. In the conference Assistant Professor Doctor Ms. Başak KALE from the Middle East Technical University International Relations Department gave a presentation on the Ottoman Empire’s attitude towards migration.
In her presentation Ms. Başak KALE has informed the participants on the “Foundations of the Ottoman Empire’s Migration and Settlement Policy”, “Mandatory Migration and its Effects”, “Population Exchange and its Effects”, “Foundation of the Migration Policy”, “Features of the Migration and Settlement Policy” and “Institutionalization of the Migration and Settlement Policy”.
In the last part of the Conference reflections of the migration policy applied during the Ottoman Empire to the Turkey’s migration policies and effects of the institutionalization carried out in the past to solve the current migration problems guided by participants’ questions were discussed. The Conference ended after the question-answer part.
